Title: Empirical analysis of tourism as a tool to increase foreign direct investment in developing country: Evidence from Pakistan
Abstract
This study examines the role of tourism in increasing the attraction of foreign investors towards Pakistan. For this purpose, we use time-series data from 1995 to 2018, by considering the tourism on the “total number of tourists” and “total receipts from tourism” by comparing it with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The analysis was done with a tool called E-Views and testing the data using the unit root test and Johannsen Cointegration test. For testing the long-term relationship between the variables, the Granger casualty test is used which shows the long-run relation between tourism and foreign direct investment. The results show that tourism is a Granger cause of foreign direct investment by showing two unidirectional relationships between tourism and foreign direct investment. From the result, we concluded that tourism has a constructive impact on FDI, thus Pakistan should promote tourism in the country to increase the level of foreign direct investment in the country through tourism.
Key Words: Pakistan, Tourism, Foreign direct investment (FDI), Tourists, Total receipts of tourism

Title: Survey to collect information on pre- and postharvest handling status and assess postharvest losses of cucumber
Abstract
A survey was conducted to collect the pre-and postharvest practices information and assess postharvest loss of cucumber starting from producer to consumer. Raipura and Shibpur Upazilas of Norshingdi District are major cucumber growing area. The farmers of the selected upazilas use pesticides in combination with plant growth regulators at 2-day intervals. The major pest of cucumber was wasp. Result showed that 16-20% of the growers used pheromone trap to reduce insect attack. The postharvest loss for cucumber from the harvest to retail sales was 19.99%. Retail price of cucumber increased about fifty percent from the farm gate price. Postharvest losses resulted mainly due to lack of careful handling, adequate transport system, and storage facilities. Major problems of the growers were pest infestation, lack of adequate transport system, and unavailability of quality seed and fertilizer. Lack of proper transport systems and storage facilities were the concerned problems at the ‘Bepari’, wholesaler, and retailers’ level.

Title: Studies on preharvest and postharvest practices of mango in Bangladesh
Abstract
An extensive survey was conducted to collect existing pre- and postharvest practices of mango. The survey was conducted using structured and pre-tested interview schedules at four levels of mango supply chain including growers, ‘Bepari’, wholesalers, and retailers. For growers’ interview, four Upazilas of Chapai Nowabgonj (Chapai Nowabgonj Sadar, Shibganj, Bholahat, and Gomostapur) and two Upazila of Rajshahi (Charghat and Bagha) were selected. For ‘Bepari’, wholesalers, and retailers, the survey was carried out in local assemble markets of Chapai Nowabgonj and Rajshahi, wholesale and retail markets of Mymensingh and Dhaka. Results showed that 20-60% of the mango growers utilized more than 3 ha of land for growing mango in the surveyed districts. During the production, all mango growers applied pesticides to mango crop at 7-10 days interval. Importantly, 60-92% of the growers used growth regulating chemicals to increase yield. The major insect and disease were mango hopper and dieback, respectively. Results of the present survey indicated that 4-16% of the ‘Bepari’ and 2-4% of the wholesalers applied ethylene-liberating ripening chemicals like ethrel, Ripen (a.i. 80% ethephon) and calcium carbide for accelerating mango ripening. The price increase of mango was 45.83% in the supply chain before reaching the consumers. The profit margin of ‘Bepari’, wholesaler, and retailer level was 7.51%, 12.84%, and 16.06%, respectively in study areas.

Title: Emergence and future of Over-the-top (OTT) video services in India: an analytical research
Abstract
Over-the-Top (OTT) video platforms, once considered a luxury is today a commodity. In India, there is an increasingly growing number of consumers adapting to it. While Indian streaming services like Hotstar and Jio Cinema has gained a stronger foothold, global players like Netflix and Amazon Prime have steadily grown their market share in India. This paper explores the emergence, advantage, and future of streaming service in India through an analytical research. We also present the various OTT services, their growth factors, technology background, audience characteristics, content, censorship and future developments expected in the industry.
Key Words: OTT future, Network, Policy, Competition, Regulation, Market, Telecommunications, Internet
